A Wishaw woman who dedicates her life to the community has been recognised by one of her closest friends.
Angie Cheney was nominated by her good friend Josie Baxter for the Wishaw Press Say It With Flowers award.
Angie started a community project up last year, which aims to help those less fortunate with basic supplies such as furniture.
Josie said: “She puts all her time and effort into this and it really shows.
“She started it up in November last year and has helped out so many families with things such as food, clothes, furniture and toys.
“Anyone who has contacted her has been helped and been given whatever they needed.”
Angie works at Wishaw General Hospital two days a week as an Accident and Emergency receptionist as well as running the charity in her spare time.
This was a big help to Angie during Christmas time, as she had lots of donations for families in need.
Josie said: “Over Christmas, Angie helped so many families with donation of toys and gifts for kids who might otherwise not get anything.
“She had lots of donations from doctors and nurses that helped provide for the people who needed it.
“On top of this, she also has a friend that keeps furniture in her garage for her.
“This means that whenever someone is in desperate need for something that she has access to it and is able to get it to them.”
When Josie told us about Angie’s nomination we were delighted to oblige, presenting her with these beautiful flowers, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals.
“Angie is just a really kind hearted person and she really deserves these flowers, as a recognition of how much she has done for people,” Josie added.
